Invest your life in the lives of others

One Eighty engages hundreds of volunteers every month. We would love for you to join us. Let us know your interest here. Our team member will get in touch with you to determine the best fit. Scroll down for a list of opportunities and some basic info about the commitment required.

WORKING WITH KIDS

Our Prevent ministries are designed to be school based and allow for us to build relationships and meet needs, while also getting to tell kids about Jesus. Here are the ways you can currently get involved:

Quest for Christ clubs – leading a small group of elementary school aged kids at Quest for Christ in a time of learning about Jesus and having some fun with games, crafts, etc. Curriculum is provided.

  • About an hour and a half per week for 12-13 weeks out of the year.

  • This usually takes place before or after school, depending on the school.

Athletics – we offer a variety of sports throughout the year. We are always looking for coaches (both head coaches AND helpers). It’s entry level sports and you don’t have to have experience. Just a willingness to spend some time teaching kids a sport and building relationships

  • Usually one or two nights a week for an hour or two

  • Days/times vary depending on what sport it is

Middle school outreach – we have two initiatives (SmartStart and SmartSummer) designed to build deep relationships with middle schoolers and support them in building resilience and making wise choices.

  • Meets 7 - 9 am during the school year and 9 am - 3 pm during the summer.

  • Hours depend on your availability and desire

Tutoring – assist students 3rd - 8th grade with math and language arts assignments so they can experience academic success. Build relationships as you work!

  • Meets Tuesday and Thursdays 3:15 - 4:15 (elementary) and 4:30 - 5:30 (middle school)

Safety Team – helping to monitor kids, keep people safe, oversee spectators – this could vary from helping at Quest for Christ to being security at an athletic tournament. If you have some time to spare and would like to help make our programs safe for everyone involved, we’d love to have you.

  • Hours and commitments would vary depending on what programs you were helping with

*Volunteers working with kids are required to pass a background check. We offer a training twice a year that we require our volunteers to attend at some point.

WORKING WITH ADULT RESIDENTS IN OUR DEVELOP PROGRAM

Teachers – we offer a variety of classes from spiritual classes to practical classes like budgeting, employment prep, life skills, etc. If you are interested in learning more about teaching opportunities, we’d love to talk to you some more.

  • Days and hours vary – there are day time and evening classes

Mentors – every resident gets a mentor. This is a great chance to come alongside a resident in our program and help them navigate this new life.

  • This requires about an hour a week to meet with the resident and some availability for a phone call or two during the week.

Service Team Members – this one is pretty simple. We need people to help get residents to appointments and things.

  • This is an “as needed” kind of job where you would just be added to a list and they can call you when they need to schedule a ride somewhere to see if you are available to take them.

OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY

These are usually one-time events throughout the year like neighborhood clean ups or helping a partnering agency with a festival they are putting on. Check out our Events page or watch our social media and newsletters for info about events like this! You can also sign up to receive notification emails using the above form.
