Because our government is shutdown, we have 52 individuals in our residential recovery program right now who will not receive SNAP federal benefits starting Nov. 1 - and instead are depending on us for their basic needs.
SNAP benefits are used by our recoverees to purchase their food while part of our year-long recovery program (food is the only expense they have when entering our program - everything else is provided free and without insurance).
Our recoverees are eligible for SNAP because they are not employed when they arrive - but instead participate in our Workforce Readiness Program to prepare them for future employment and give them time to work on their recovery.
Without SNAP, we need to raise $3,640 per week to cover the cost of food for our recoverees. That's $70 per person per week for 52 people - used to purchase their own groceries and prepare their own meals.

Obviously people need to eat to live! But it's more than that. Many of the men and women we serve have lived for years as food insecure - so just the threat of that possibility can trigger a survival instinct that takes them out of "recovery" mode and into negative spaces in their head. We don't want that to happen, so we've assured them we've got them covered.
Which is where you come in. We only have it covered because we trust the Lord will provide through his people. If you can help us cover the food we need, we will be most grateful.
