About the event
Join us to for this Open House to witness how One Eighty is bringing solutions to the local affordable housing crisis. We are opening 14 units of Stability Housing in August 2025 - allowing us to serve a total of 61 graduates as they continue their recovery journeys. This apartment complex at 915 Fillmore Street in Davenport was purchased this year with the support of a grant from the Iowa Recovery Housing Fund, Regional Development Authority, IHMVCU, and an anonymous donor.
Stop by at your convenience on Thursday, Aug. 28 between 3 and 6 pm for light refreshments, a tour of the facility, and a chance to chat with our graduates who are thriving in this new space. One Eighty executive leadership and members of the Board of Directors will be present to answer your questions. We can't wait to share this exciting development with you. No RSVP needed.
The Need for Affordable Housing
Rental properties in the Quad Cities are prohibitively expensive, averaging $865 per month for a one-bedroom apartment compared to the $375 we charge for Stability Housing. Affordable housing programs exist but have long waiting lists. Data show that the Quad Cities should have another 7,400 units of affordable housing to provide shelter for all who need it. With the recent cuts in federal housing assistance, the number of units needed will continue to go up and waiting lists will keep getting longer.
The people we serve at One Eighty are particularly vulnerable amidst the current affordable housing crisis. Despite all the hard work they've invested in themselves and in recovery, many landlords see only their past histories of addiction, crime, and evictions. This makes it hard for them to find a safe, affordable place to live while they continue to work on their recovery - which then can make it challenging to keep a job and maintain sobriety.
Stability Housing provides safe and accountable living opportunities for our graduates to remove the stress of this common barrier. Our graduates benefit from the low monthly rent, empowering them to work toward financial goals like paying off fines or debt, or saving for a car or house down payment. But it's so much more than just an affordable place to live. Graduates benefit from continued structure and accountability. The also have like-minded roommates who provide community and encouragement. Stability residents also participate in weekly support groups, social outings and our annual alumni event. Stability Housing is a critical part of the continuum of care we offer, moving people from crisis to independence.
